Welcome to ASLEC   ASLEC Objectives

ASLEC, the Association of Signals, Lighting and other Highway Electrical Contractors,streetlight repair was formed in 1952 with the prime objective of representing the interests of organisations operating in the highway electrical market. The aim is to exchange knowledge and information and by mutual helpfulness to enable each to attain maximum efficiency. There are over 80 members, whose contracting activities encompass street lighting, traffic signals, traffic signs, highway communications and cameras.

  ASLEC's main objectives are:

  • To set the standard for highway electrical contracting work and to ensure that its members conform to these standards, including the Code of Conduct
  • To be at the forefront of competence and operative training and to ensure that all member organisations and their employees are registered to the Highway Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS)
  • To represent the interests of its members including contact with government organisations and departments
  • To provide training and assessment services through its training arm - ASLEC Training.


    • Membership of ASLEC is open to trading concerns and local authority direct services organisations operating in the highway electrical contracting market.
