Introduction and Background to the Sector Scheme and
the Registration of Operatives
The Sector Scheme for highway electrical works requires that
operatives working in the highway electrical industry shall be assessed
as being Competent by their employers and be issued by them with a
certificate that identifies the operative as an Authorised Person
allowed to carry out work appropriate to the level of competence against
which they have been assessed.
In order to ensure rigour in this process, the Sector Scheme requires
that each Authorised Person shall be placed on a Register by their
employer under this Scheme. As part of the process, the Scheme requires
that a Technical Audit is carried out at intervals no greater than every
two years to ensure the validity of the assessment process carried out
by Registered Organisations in the issuing of their Authorisation to
Work certificates.
This is an employers scheme and is owned by Stakeholders from within
the highway electrical industry and is managed by a Registration Board
made up from a cross section of stakeholders. The Scheme is administered
by an Administrator. |
