Today's commercial climate is increasingly competitive and
constantly changing. This is nowhere more apparent than within the
Highway Electrical Industry. Such changes include:
1. Best Value which is impacting procurement methods carried out by
local authorities.
2. Partnership between the public and private sectors through PFI or
equivalents.
3. The changing contracting scene with contractors having a larger say
in what is purchased.
In order to keep abreast of the changes that are taking place,
commercial organisations need to be flexible, adaptable and well
informed so that they are able to ensure their commercial position in
the market place. In addition, local authorities must ensure that
products and services that they purchase are from companies that are
both professional and competitive. |

Although there are a number of trade and professional organisations
within the Highway Electrical Industry, no trade organisation currently
represents the numerous companies operating in areas such as
distribution, fabrication, computer management systems and consultancy.
With the advent of HEMSA, this has now changed. The Highway Electrical
Manufacturers and Suppliers Association fills this gap in providing a
professional support system for such commercial organisations and the
confidence to local authorities that its members can provide products
and services of quality at a competitive price.
HEMSA was formed in November 1998 with the main purpose of securing the
interests of its members by the exchange of knowledge and information
and to promote standards of quality and service. Over the first six
years of its existence HEMSA membership has grown to almost thirty.
HEMSA organise and host meaningful and topical seminars three or four
times a year at a variety of venues up and down the country. They are
complimented by exciting and vibrant exhibitions keeping the key
decision makers in the industry fully informed and up to date with
product developments. |
